Product Review and Giveaway (CLOSED)

I recently volunteered to review a product from EcoMom.com. I felt like a kid in class sitting in the front row who is desperately waving her hand to answer a question the teacher asked. Pick me! Pick me! Fortunately, I was chosen. Hee hee! Lucky me. Lucky Caleb.

EcoMom.com (formerly known as SproutBaby.com) is an online company whose objective is to provide only the best, eco-friendly, and safe products for children (and some things for moms and dads too) at affordable prices. We’re talking organic foods, non-toxic skincare and bath products, BPA-free cups and water bottles, etc. The products they offer are extensively researched, tested and recommended beforehand. They do most of the homework for you so you don’t have to and when you’re busy, this is very helpful. Who doesn’t like buying with confidence?

When shopping at EcoMom.com, they offer free shipping (ground) on orders $75 or more, however, they have a new program called the EcoPass. Purchase a $99 annual membership and in return get a 15% discount on every order plus free shipping (ground) with no purchase minimum requirement. There are other perks included with the EcoPass too!

The product I had the privilege to review is the Kid Basix Safe Sippy cup. YS2 is still new to the world of sippy cups but he has one already that mama doesn’t love all that much – it seems more of a chew toy than anything, plus it’s a little leaky. The Kid Basix Sippy cup is one that actually lives up to its claim of no leaks, even turned upside down.

And what’s cool, this is made of durable, non-leaching, food grade stainless steel! Yeah, no naughty plastic. The plastic that is used (spout and handles) is BPA- and phthalate-free. A rubber sleeve is used to protect and insulate (FYI, the sleeve itself is reusable and recyclable).

It might get a minor dent or two went dropped (Caleb drops his all.the.time.) but that’s okay. No harm done. One of the purposes of the sleeve is to help protect it when dropped; we don’t have any dents on ours but I’m not worried if I do happen to see one. It’s easy to clean and dishwasher safe. Compared to his other (won’t mention the name here) sippy this has less parts and can be filled and ready to use in a flash.

Now, another interesting aspect of this sippy is the spout. It differs from most others because of the straw-like spout vs. a typical wide spout. Research by speech development experts found that a spout like this is more helpful and better as it’s designed to not interfere with babies’ physical and speech development.

Comes in three colors, is lightweight, and you’re helping the planet using this sippy cup. Nice huh?

BUY IT! If purchased today or anytime this month, use the code SBBL196 for a 15% discount on your first order with EcoMom.com! Discount code expires May 31, 2010.
