source Breastfeeding a toddler. Why is this news or still a controversy? I mean really. People get so up in arms about breastfeeding in public (I didn't too often but when I did I covered up - some don't cover up but I certainly don't find it offensive) or in this case, breastfeeding past an age some feel is appropriate. Really? Why do they care? Why does it matter? Who is it hurting? Honestly. Bottom line: breastfeeding is healthy for both mom and child and creates an unbreakable bond. To ensure your child is getting all the nutrients and has a strong, healthy immune system breastfeeding is ideal (putting aside those who can't for various health issues or reasons, such as adoption). People think these mothers who breastfeed for extended periods of time will continue to nurse their children into their pre-teen and teenage years. Get real and grow up. image Many of you have probably heard or read about Paula Deen, Food Network star and lover of all things with butter and oil, has type-2 diabetes. She's actually had it for at least three years but is now confirming the diagnosis publicly (it was previously rumored). Sad to say, this doesn't come as a surprise to me. Let me say, I like Paula Deen. She's fun to watch, has an infectious laugh and seems genuinely happy in life. She loves her boys too! I'm just sad to hear that she has no intention of changing how she cooks on TV ( source ). Hopefully, her own diet has changed...Anyway, to me, this would've been a great opportunity to show her loyal fans that healthy eating can reverse this diagnosis without the aid of medication and that healthy food isn't boring or bland. Remember when I brought up copyrights ? Well, a blogger friend emailed me recently about another blogger plagiarizing her. Tsk tsk. Awhile back, my friend had written a review about a product she used and then went onto host a giveaway for said product. The naughty blogger recently reviewed (I use the term loosely here) the same product but interestingly enough, her review was nearly identical to my friend’s. When called on the carpet about it, Naughty Blogger denied it all – denied plagiarizing, denied knowing my friend or her blog, etc. My friend noticed she had one less GFC follower and Twitter follower shortly thereafter. Hmm... Naughty Blogger ended up changing some of the language after the fact but there’s still some wording that’s obviously the same. Interesting she would change anything if her claims of innocence are right. Have any of you been following or heard about the Cooks Source backlash? I'll tell ya, I'm not (or wasn't) familiar with Cooks Source until today when I saw some angry tweets going on about them. And on facebook I guess there's even more (haven't looked myself - I got the jist). Apparently, Cooks Source (now being referred to as Crooks Source) did a big no-no . And that is they lifted content from other sources and posted to their magazine. Based on the tweets I've seen, there's been more than one source. They believe this okay. Hey there! Thank you for all your sweet comments on my "brag" video - the one of YS2 talking and laughing. He is our pride and joy and truly a dream baby in so many ways so once in awhile I just have to show him off. Thanks for allowing me to do that. Finally, we're getting our week of summer here in the great Pacific Northwest! It's been loooonnnnngggg overdue! While driving around my neighborhood after running a few errands I noticed along one road some potential new growth. Growth in the meaning of a new house or two soon to be built. What made me sad were all the beautiful trees freshly cut down and piled on top of each pushed to the side. So sad. I understand growth and expansion; I mean I hope to one day own my own home but it’s bittersweet to see these tall beautiful trees just mowed down for a house or two that will have little land space. Sigh… I wasn’t sad for long though as I saw a tweet the next day from Moms Wear Your Tees about a plant-a-tree-in-state-parks program by Odwalla  (she also about it here too). Synchronicity? Anyway, it’s free, just pick a state and post through fb or your email address and you’re done. Ow! I fell and scrapped my knee today (thanks Nelly and  Debbie for your concern). I’m okay! I’m okay! (said like a 3 yr old girl at the park the other day who fell on the grass and announced to everyone [who weren’t around or paying attention, except for me] “I’m okay! I’m okay!” she was so cute…me, not so much). Not sure what happened exactly. I was on my way to the post office when on one corner some guy tried to stop me to listen to his schpeel about something he was promoting/selling. I told him I didn’t have time (which I didn’t). I crossed the street where his buddy was but he was more creative in hopes I'd stop. He was shaking his hips and saying something about shaking his hips but as I walked past I went splat! Packages flying everywhere. Yeah, beautiful. Fell right on my knee and my hand that tried breaking the fall – obviously too late and not effective. I told the guy I fell because I was distracted by his shaking hips! Grr…so embarrassing! And it hurt. It really hur...

Well, whaddya think? Okay, it's obviously in a state of chaos right now but I'm working on it. I like the new blog template overall but I'll tell ya what. Installing disqus back onto my blog is turning into a NIGHTMARE. Because this template is customized, it ain't no easy task. I have to figure out how to edit HTML and googling it isn't helping thus far. So I'm back to my old commenting system. Sniff. This makes me sad. I will figure out the disqus thing. I have before and I will again! I have to turn that frown upside down. Here's a problem though: no comments on old posts. This shouldn't be a big deal but when you're in the middle of hosting a giveaway to me that's bad. What? You mean this isn't about YS2??? ha ha! My review of Caleb is that he is top notch! But seriously this is about something else. As you know life for us is a little crazy these days with a newborn so Sam does more of the grocery shopping than I do. We sometimes take turns. But on one of his trips to Whole Foods he came home with a carton of coconut milk (vanilla) by Turtle Mountain/Purely Decadent . Hmmm...wasn't sure about this. He poured me a glass to sample and mama mia! was this yummy!! It's about the same price as a carton of organic cow milk (I think - haven't bought that stuff in a long time so don't quote me) and way tastier! They also have yogurt made with coconut milk. I highly recommend the vanilla and pina colada flavors. :) Their "ice cream" is pretty tasty too...especially if it involves peanut butter. Okay, not really raw but tasty nonetheless. It's just great to see that there are more alternatives becoming available - just wish...

Before I get into this review I must gripe about something. My computer is broken AGAIN! Yes, it is. Apparently, it's the motherboard causing the problems not my hardrive. Grr. So I don't know when I'll have my own computer again but thankfully, Sam's got his I can use. Here's a post I'd been working on for awhile (er, 3 weeks) before life started going in every which way so I'm finally getting around posting - it is more for my own purposes than for you to feel obligated to follow along.
