Monday and Winners of Baby Carrot

Image
Happy Monday to you! Hopefully Mother’s (or woman’s) day weekend was fun-filled in some way for you all. Here it was beee-yooooo-teeee-ful all weekend long; full of sun and warmth. So nice. Monday greeted me with clouds and a little rain but I’m okay with that since the weekend was a huge reward. Got to spend a little time in the garden (usually I’m just ‘ at ’ the garden but not actually doing anything in it since I’m taking YS2 around (he has his fans at the park-hee hee) or off to the playground. So it was nice getting my hands AND my feet a little dirty (yay for flip-flops!). While there we sampled some French Sorrel from a neighbor. Had never heard of it before but it’s a leafy green that is very sour when you bite it. Citrus-sour. I liked it though. Tried thinking of what you’d use it in or how you’d use it but our neighbor said it’s something you don’t want to eat in large quantities because it becomes toxic . The link I provided also mentions using stainless steel (I’m assu...

Misc Stuff and a Blog Fave

First, thank you all for the happy birthday greetings and wishes for Caleb/YS2/Green Beard/Sprout. It was a great day. I’m still trying to grasp the fact that he’s ONE. It’s bittersweet – I love all the changes and fun things he can do now but I miss how small he was and his coo’s and his helplessness (even those “newborn moves” like the wayward arm or leg-ha ha!). Now, he loves his independence. Such a mix of emotions for me - so glad he’s a part of our family. Again, thank you all! He’ll know you as part of his ‘extended family.’ And for those who don’t know why he’s sometimes called ‘YS2’ it’s because his daddy is Yardsnacker . Deb of Debbie Does Raw came up with the nickname Yardsnacker 2 or YS2 and it stuck. :) I got some exciting bit of news yesterday – an email from Suzane informing me I was listed in her 50 Best Blogs for Raw Food Recipes & Inspiration ! To say the least, I’m honored. Especially knowing the number of raw blogs out there with valuable content, to even...

Giveaway - Baby Carrot Products, Part I (CLOSED)

Please excuse the delay...I actually meant to post about this earlier in the day but life/work took priority so here I are. :) Better late than never right? Hopefully, you've had a chance to read up on my reviews for the Goo-Goo Baby Bum Balm and the Borage Butter Eczema Cream . It's awesome stuff and I love it! I should point out that I was able to buy these two products at my local natural market, PCC . So for those in the Seattle/Eastside area you could check it out there. I also understand that Whole Foods carries some of these products but truthfully, WF confuses me sometimes that I get lost and forget what I'm looking for (this is both good and bad) so I don't know if they do for sure or not. Anyway... I have FIVE different products to give away. See? Wild Carrot Herbals is super duper! The owner was very generous to sponsor these products - I honestly have nothing to gain from this, just doing my thing of spreading the good word about them. Anyway....a...

Product Review - Baby Carrot, Part II

Yesterday I posted a review on Baby Carrot’s Goo-Goo Baby Bum Balm from Wild Carrot Herbals. You can check out that review here . As a continuation of my review of Wild Carrot products, today’s post is on their Borage Butter Eczema Cream . Review #2   Borage flower The review of this product is actually from a friend, who gave me permission to share her story. I omitted names of course. I loved the bum balm so much that I wondered about the eczema cream and thinking of this friend of mine who has children who suffer from eczema I picked up a jar for her. The levels of their conditions range from mild to severe at times. Ingredients: Contains cold pressed organic borage seed oil, organic coconut oil, raw shea butter, cocoa butter, vegetable emulsifying wax NF, palm stearic acid, rosemary oleoresin, tocopherol vitamin E, grapefruit seed extract, pure therapeutic grade essential oils of Albanian green myrtle and Moroccan blue chamomile My friend’s eldest son called to tel...

Product Review – Baby Carrot, Part I

I have a couple of reviews for you – two products made by the same company – but don’t want to overwhelm you with one mile long post so I’m splitting it up into separate posts. Now, this first post I talk about baby stuff however, even if you don’t have children you’ll still want to check back for the second review and then again for a giveaway. Review #1 Goo-goo! Every once in awhile my little babe experiences diaper rash. :( Fortunately, not often but still it can be painful and irritating when it does happen, although my lil guy is a champ and doesn't complain much I'm sure it can't be comfy... Over the counter (OTC) creams are barf (sorry, but that's one of those funny words to me). They’re made of stuff no one should put on their skin let alone a baby’s skin, which is so sensitive to begin with. Things like BHA , and Methylparaben . Bleh! We found an OTC product that was a step up from the “popular” brand but still not satisfied. We talked to his doc who ha...
