Bzzz!

Hey hey everybody! Long time no blog -- heh heh! I have been a most horrible blogger, I know, but it wasn’t my intention to be away for as long as I was. It is what is, right? If you follow me on twitter or instagram (hihorosie) or pinterest (and sometimes facebook ) you'll see I'm still around and active. So if you can't find me here, you can find me at one of those places. But you should see more posts from me on the ol' blog. Anyway, this post is one I actually started over a month ago to recap my 5K on May 20th. Uh…oops. Many thanks to those who posted lovely messages on my personal facebook page and/or gave thumbs up on my 5K pics. I’ll post some repeats below plus some new ones. But first, let’s talk about it a bit. We had pretty ideal weather, cool but with a chance of rain. During the walk, it only sprinkled a little, otherwise it was perfect. The 5K was to support our local parks, which had over 800 participants. Many were families (lots of ...

WEGO Health: My Dream Day

Image
My dream day would have to begin the night before by going to bed on time so I wake up after a full night sleep. Having a full 8 hours (or however many you require) can sometimes be all the difference one needs to make it a perfect day. But really, aside from a good night’s sleep, the perfect day was a day like today for me. It was all about being with my two boys, YS and YS2. Plain and simple. Today’s weather was ideal so we spent all our time outside. After breakfast, YS2 and I went for a long walk (he rode his beloved bike). Then again after lunch and a nap, which I took one too (ahh!), we headed off to the garden/park. We all got our hands dirty in the rich earth and then walked around while YS2 rode his bike again. It truly couldn’t have been more perfect. In fact, that is why this post is going up so late! I was busy making memories and having fun times with my family. The house is still a mess, laundry yet to be finished, toys all over the place, projects und...

Winter

Image
Happy Sunday everyone! Hopefully, the weekend has been great for you. They’re never long enough though, huh? So all last week, I worked from home due to the snow. You probably saw it on your news (sorry about that -- our snow made your news, believe me, it was on here too. All. The. Time.) and Californians made fun of us . Silly. In our defense, we're not equipped for much snow nor are we used to much snow. We get occasional snow in the city but not often do we get amounts equal to other winter wonderlands like we experienced last week (at our house, we got about 8 or more inches). This stuff is for the mountains! We don't have a fleet or two of snowplows at our disposal to help us get around and we have lots and lots of hills. However, most Seattleites cannot drive in the snow even when there's a little bit so you can imagine the mess. And because I know this after living here long enough, I also realized I didn’t want to get stuck on the bus for hours...

Ho-ho-ho!

Happy Holidays, friends! We are in process of decorating our home with h o l i d a y c h e e r . In fact, today, we finally found our tree. Yippee! And it only cost $38 -- score! Darn good deal since most lots we went to charge $85 or typically more for a noble fir of the same size (about 8+ feet). Plus, I got a fresh wreath for our door. Smells so incredible! Why is it when you’re at a tree lot and find the “perfect” tree you bring it home only to find it’s, well, less than perfect? Suddenly, you notice how one side it’s not as full or even or the branches are a little funky or with this tree, the trunk is crooked so getting it to appear straight was a challenge. Mostly for Sam, because it was way too heavy for me to maneuver. Anyway, I say it’s got character and now that it’s finally in place, leaned this way and that way, and turned once or twice, and moved here and there, it’s now perfect and ready to decorate. A year ago, which seems like a blink in time, our tree was ha...

A New Day, A New Month

Image
Hello everybody! Hope your Monday is off to a good start…for a Monday. Here's a recap with some pics taken from the weekend. peekaboo! I’m still dreaming about yesterday – the weather here was most incredible. Simply gorgeous and wonderful to be outside and soak in the sun (not all pics shown were taken yesterday - Saturday's weather wasn't as spectacular as Sunday's). Of course, the weekend was filled with garden time but it was the weekend we needed to have our garden in shape for the season. Being part of a community garden there are rules to be kept and meeting the cultivation deadline is one of them. It’s all good though. We hired a nephew to come weed (yay). I’d do it but someone’s gotta keep up with YS2! So while nephew weeded the strawberry bed, Yardsnacker tilled the plots. It’s looking good now. Soon we’ll be planting all of our goodies. We went for several walks this weekend too – along with everyone else it seems in the neighborhood. That means lot...

Hey! How was your weekend? As usual, mine was TOO SHORT! Weekends will always be too short. I’m wondering if my complaining of the cold, gross weather on Saturday was enough to turn things around on Sunday. Okay, it wasn’t exactly warm but it was warm er . I even saw the sun! Such a welcome sight. Because it was actually turning into a nice day we went for a family walk. Spotted some daffodils along the way which seem to epitomize spring dontchya think? YS2 got to kiss a friendly pug a few times too. Sorry no pic but it was super cute. If he could, he’d kiss every dog and cat he saw. I know I've said that before but I like to repeat myself sometimes. :) I finally worked on my herb garden. Got the planter box filled up and ready to go but haven't quite decided what to plant in it. Since I have planter bags I used those for some of my herbs and some of the starts I had picked up I think would be better at the garden so that leaves the cedar box. I might still do herbs b...
