Ramblings

source Hello everybuddy! Loved the comments and support on my last post . Many of you feel the same that it’s just nobody’s business when it comes to breastfeeding. Thank you media for stirring the pot unnecessarily. At the same time though, while on Pinterest , one of the people I follow (or in this case, a company), Motherlove Herbal Company ,  posted a link to an article on extended breastfeeding and its many benefits.  An interesting read if you’ve got the time. I will point out what this article mentions that the average duration for breastfeeding around the world is 4.2 years of age . So anyway, there you go. Keep doing what YOU feel is best. Hope you had a great Mother’s Day (even if you don’t have kids of your own, I feel like we’re all mothers in some way to someone even if they’re the furry kind). I had a good day. A few days before mama’s day, I got treated to a 2-hour Thai massage. Oh my. I’d never had one before so I was a bit freaked beforehand

source Breastfeeding a toddler. Why is this news or still a controversy? I mean really. People get so up in arms about breastfeeding in public (I didn't too often but when I did I covered up - some don't cover up but I certainly don't find it offensive) or in this case, breastfeeding past an age some feel is appropriate. Really? Why do they care? Why does it matter? Who is it hurting? Honestly. Bottom line: breastfeeding is healthy for both mom and child and creates an unbreakable bond. To ensure your child is getting all the nutrients and has a strong, healthy immune system breastfeeding is ideal (putting aside those who can't for various health issues or reasons, such as adoption). People think these mothers who breastfeed for extended periods of time will continue to nurse their children into their pre-teen and teenage years. Get real and grow up. General society and the media think we should forgo breastfeeding because of inconvenience or it's too pa

Happy Mother's Day! Sunday, May 13th ♥ To ALL the moms of humans and fur-kids ♥   `   ` ` ` ` ` ` ` "A mark for every breath you took, every blink, every sleepy yawn. One for every time you sucked your thumb, waved hello, closed your eyes and slept in the most perfect darkness. One for every time you had the hiccups. One for every dream you dreamed within me. It isn't very pretty anymore. Some may even think it ugly. That's OK. It was your home. It's where I first grew to love you, where I lay my hand as I dreamed about who you were and who you would be. It held you until my arms could, and for that, I will always find something beautiful in it." ~by Cassie   [ source ]

New Love

Howdy-ho kids! Life’s been good these days and thanks to one of my pals, Maria , for making it even better! She was sweet to send me some goodies in the mail recently and the highlight was some organic raw chocolate from Lulu’s . my goodies I had never sampled Lulu’s before but knew Maria was a big fan so when she parted with some of her faves and shared them with me, I was honored. Of course, I quickly dove in. Who can resist chocolate?! Every once in a while I come across someone who isn’t a fan and I think, “whaaaa?” Does not compute. Anyway, back to Lulu’s Chocolates . I tried Sedona Spice, Chocolate Maca Chunk, Aztec Crunch, and Smoked Sea Salt Almond. What’s great about Lulu’s is she tells you exactly what goes into each bar .   They’re also low-glycemic because they are made with coconut sugar from Coconut Secret . Mmm! All of the cacao is fair-trade, sourced from small family farms using sustainable practices. Plus it’s organic. So all around you’re gettin

WEGO Health: Recap

Image
Hey hey everybody! Hooo-weeee! I made it! I completed my first ever writer's challenge. Glad I could participate in the WEGO Health - Health Activist Writer's Month Challenge, writing 30 posts in 30 days. Well...I did 25 out of 30. Not too shabby. I want to THANK YOU all for reading along and supporting me in my challenge, which was no easy feat (for you or for me *wink*). I learned in this process that I still do not desire to write everyday. Ha ha! I was able to participate in this challenge mainly because my time allowed but as you may have noticed, I started to slow down at the end. This was both for needing a break and also work starting to get busy again. What was great about this challenge, with the help of the topic prompts, was stretching myself in different ways; thinking outside of my norm. It brought new life and motivation to my health focus and blogging as a whole. A few of my favorite challenges were the health haikus, open a book ..., and a letter to
