Hey hey everybody! Long time no blog -- heh heh! I have been a most horrible blogger, I know, but it wasn’t my intention to be away for as long as I was. It is what is, right? If you follow me on twitter or instagram (hihorosie) or pinterest (and sometimes facebook ) you'll see I'm still around and active. So if you can't find me here, you can find me at one of those places. But you should see more posts from me on the ol' blog. Anyway, this post is one I actually started over a month ago to recap my 5K on May 20th. Uh…oops. Many thanks to those who posted lovely messages on my personal facebook page and/or gave thumbs up on my 5K pics. I’ll post some repeats below plus some new ones. But first, let’s talk about it a bit. We had pretty ideal weather, cool but with a chance of rain. During the walk, it only sprinkled a little, otherwise it was perfect. The 5K was to support our local parks, which had over 800 participants. Many were families (lots of ...

source Hello everybuddy! Loved the comments and support on my last post . Many of you feel the same that it’s just nobody’s business when it comes to breastfeeding. Thank you media for stirring the pot unnecessarily. At the same time though, while on Pinterest , one of the people I follow (or in this case, a company), Motherlove Herbal Company ,  posted a link to an article on extended breastfeeding and its many benefits.  An interesting read if you’ve got the time. I will point out what this article mentions that the average duration for breastfeeding around the world is 4.2 years of age . So anyway, there you go. Keep doing what YOU feel is best. Hope you had a great Mother’s Day (even if you don’t have kids of your own, I feel like we’re all mothers in some way to someone even if they’re the furry kind). I had a good day. A few days before mama’s day, I got treated to a 2-hour Thai massage. Oh my. I’d never had one before so I was a bit freaked be...

WEGO Health: Day 24

Hello! I missed participating in the writing challenge yesterday. I was just too busy to get something posted in time. Today’s topic is giving myself/condition/health focus a mascot. Hmm, well, all I can think of is a giant sneaker and that just doesn’t seem right or cool so…PASS! Yesterday’s topic was writer’s choice; I’m going to use that today instead. Did you observe Earth Day this past Sunday? Hopefully, we all do something every day to help our beautiful earth and not just once a year. My daily contributions are going for walks, using public transportation, recycling, gardening, using eco-friendly or homemade household products, etc. We did get out and enjoy the warm, beautiful weather this weekend, including walks/bike rides. However, on Sunday, we got stuck in traffic (appropriate for earth day dontcha think?) trying to go to the Tulip Festival . Everyone else seemed to have the same idea so we bagged it for another day (or year -- ends Monday). Sam and I did som...

I did it!

Howdy friends! It's been almost a week but welcome to spring! I took a couple days off from work to have an extra long weekend (love!) and it was quite timely, too. Our weather improved. Maybe I should take more days off… ha ha! Guess I should warn you now that in the near future a picture-heavy post is coming because I love spring and seeing all the blossoms and new life I can’t help but take a bazillion pics. This post is about doing some other things, hence the title. Like buying some much needed raw food staples. Okay, it was Sam who broke down and did some online shopping via RawFoodWorld.com . We didn't get everything there, mostly things that were too good of a deal to pass up. I still have some other shopping to do and would like to do that locally. Anyway, we got some boring stuff like maca (crazy good deal), raw carob (personally, I’m not a fan of carob much), mesquite, and agave (I don’t buy into the whole thing that all agave is bad so I still use it, among o...
