Please excuse the delay...I actually meant to post about this earlier in the day but life/work took priority so here I are. :) Better late than never right? Hopefully, you've had a chance to read up on my reviews for the Goo-Goo Baby Bum Balm and the Borage Butter Eczema Cream . It's awesome stuff and I love it! I should point out that I was able to buy these two products at my local natural market, PCC . So for those in the Seattle/Eastside area you could check it out there. I also understand that Whole Foods carries some of these products but truthfully, WF confuses me sometimes that I get lost and forget what I'm looking for (this is both good and bad) so I don't know if they do for sure or not. Anyway... I have FIVE different products to give away. See? Wild Carrot Herbals is super duper! The owner was very generous to sponsor these products - I honestly have nothing to gain from this, just doing my thing of spreading the good word about them. Anyway....a

Product Review - Baby Carrot, Part II

Yesterday I posted a review on Baby Carrot’s Goo-Goo Baby Bum Balm from Wild Carrot Herbals. You can check out that review here . As a continuation of my review of Wild Carrot products, today’s post is on their Borage Butter Eczema Cream . Review #2   Borage flower The review of this product is actually from a friend, who gave me permission to share her story. I omitted names of course. I loved the bum balm so much that I wondered about the eczema cream and thinking of this friend of mine who has children who suffer from eczema I picked up a jar for her. The levels of their conditions range from mild to severe at times. Ingredients: Contains cold pressed organic borage seed oil, organic coconut oil, raw shea butter, cocoa butter, vegetable emulsifying wax NF, palm stearic acid, rosemary oleoresin, tocopherol vitamin E, grapefruit seed extract, pure therapeutic grade essential oils of Albanian green myrtle and Moroccan blue chamomile My friend’s eldest son called to tell me

WINNER: Spirulina

Today is the day I announce the winner of the 16 ounce jar of spirulina manna from Healthforce Nutritionals . I have to admit I wasn't expecting all the entries I received (177!) but hey, I learned many of you want your greens ! You want your spirulina ! Well good call peoples! Because there were so many entries this time around I had to pull out the big guns, aka Random.org to do the dirty work of choosing a winner. Before I announce the winner (come on! Who doesn't love some suspense?) just want to say thanks to everyone participating and sharing some of your favorite superfoods in the process. If you want to know some of mine they are cacao, maca, spirulina and almonds (are nuts considered superfoods?). Also, want to thank Healthforce Nutritionals for sponsoring this giveaway. They have superior products as some of you saw on their website or know from personal experience. Now, for the big reveal....      True Random Number Generator      Min: 1      Max: 177

Product Review – Baby Carrot, Part I

I have a couple of reviews for you – two products made by the same company – but don’t want to overwhelm you with one mile long post so I’m splitting it up into separate posts. Now, this first post I talk about baby stuff however, even if you don’t have children you’ll still want to check back for the second review and then again for a giveaway. Review #1 Goo-goo! Every once in awhile my little babe experiences diaper rash. :( Fortunately, not often but still it can be painful and irritating when it does happen, although my lil guy is a champ and doesn't complain much I'm sure it can't be comfy... Over the counter (OTC) creams are barf (sorry, but that's one of those funny words to me). They’re made of stuff no one should put on their skin let alone a baby’s skin, which is so sensitive to begin with. Things like BHA , and Methylparaben . Bleh! We found an OTC product that was a step up from the “popular” brand but still not satisfied. We talked to his doc who ha

I picked up some organic strawberries today – don’t they look pretty and delicious? Ahem, please excuse the cell phone quality; it was the camera of choice at the time. Anyway, love ‘em! This particular batch was pretty good; not the best but they served their purpose. Looking forward to picking some fresh ones from our garden. Now, those are the best! In case you haven’t seen my current giveaway, check it out for a 16 oz jar of spirulina manna from Healthforce Nutritionals. Okay, this post isn’t about strawberries or spirulina, although strawberries are my favorite fruit/berry in the whole world and you know how I feel about spirulina but this is actually a post about another blog fave of mine. I’m admitting to hand selecting this one instead of being random but hey, there’s a purpose. And you’ll soon learn why for yourself. ::shine spotlight:: Amanda is her name and Live My Life NOW Trek is her blog. Amanda is about to embark on a trek ACROSS AMERICA! Hey, I’m impressed if so

A Fave

I'm putting my "PS's" at the beginning here... P.S. Before we get started here, I just want to say sorry for the "ghost post" I published last night. That's for those who caught it in their readers only to find it really wasn't there. I was distracted and hit publish instead of save. Normally, I can remedy any goofs like this right away because I'm about to submit it for real but I wasn't ready this time. Obviously. I type my posts out in Word before I go to blogger but I was getting it all ready because I only had one last thing left to do. Oh well. Here we are now. :) P.P.S. Lauren at Ginger is the New Pink is the winner of my recent giveaway for a Kid Basix Safe Sippy cup ! Woo hoo! Many thanks to EcoMom.com for sponsoring. ******* There was a time, way back when, where blogging to me was a “no way.” I could read others’ blogs but I had zero intention of starting a blog myself. Well, two years later here I am. I just realized when typ

You Win Some, You Lose Some

No doubt you're very familiar with the many giveaways happening here and there and everywhere. Hey, speaking of which, have you entered my latest ? You can enter for yourself or for someone else - you don't want to pass it up! Anyway... Thank you all for commenting on my new look here at the "Place." I loved the old blog but I outgrew it and it was time for something new. What you're seeing now is a customized (pre-made) template I won from MWYT and blog designer, Lena, at Premades for a Purpose . In fact, MWYT's blog is also a premade by Lena. It was hard to choose just the right one but I believe I did, don't ya think? Lena has some new templates available, all very reasonably priced, and they are so adorable. If you get a chance or are in the market for an uplift to your own blog, check her site out. She has other templates to choose from than what's shown on the home page. Sales of these templates and other services she provides go towards a

My Blog - New Look

Well, whaddya think? Okay, it's obviously in a state of chaos right now but I'm working on it. I like the new blog template overall but I'll tell ya what. Installing disqus back onto my blog is turning into a NIGHTMARE. Because this template is customized, it ain't no easy task. I have to figure out how to edit HTML and googling it isn't helping thus far. So I'm back to my old commenting system. Sniff. This makes me sad. I will figure out the disqus thing. I have before and I will again! I have to turn that frown upside down. Here's a problem though: no comments on old posts. This shouldn't be a big deal but when you're in the middle of hosting a giveaway to me that's bad. I think what I will have to do is resubmit that blog entry as a new one in order for people to comment if they choose. Fingers crossed that works. If any of you submitted entries for the Kid Basix stainless steel sippy cup courtesy of EcoMom.com, don't worry I still have

A work in progress

Okay, so I'm trying to convert to my new blog template and I'm having some issues I need help with so I reverted back to my old/current template until then. I lost some widgets in the process but figure I'll get everything squared away when I get some help with my new template. I'm not totally dumb when it comes to computers but I'm not exactly techno-savvy either. Ah well. Wish me luck!

Happy Friday! Thought I'd let someone else take the reins today and share with you an interesting topic. How Raw Diets Can Make a Difference Transitioning to a raw food diet is often thought of as only a personal choice, as a journey that one individually decides to embark on for whatever reason, whether it be ethical or health-related or some other reason entirely. But the Examiner in Sacramento suggests an interesting idea involving raw food diets that could potentially make a difference in the greater community. The social problem that the Examiner discusses is the city's increased problems with homelessness among seniors. The article reports that Sacramento has seen a sharp rise in the elderly being displaced, resulting from what many speculate the aging of the Baby Boomer generation. The article goes on to posit a refreshing new idea that would offer homeless seniors both a source of sustaining and sustainable nutrition and that would also give them something rewarding

It’s Easy Being Green if You’re Spirulina

Before I get started on my post, I just wanted to mention that the winner of the $50 gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods was Emily of Healthy Eating, Naturally  – congrats! Now on with the show! When I was pregnant with YS2, I consumed fair amounts of spirulina and hemp protein (both powder and seeds, I prefer seeds over powder any day though) thanks to my wonderful hubby, who was so diligent in making most of my meals, including daily smoothies. He is after all, what I call, the Smoothie Master . We think those two superfoods are some of the reasons we’re so blessed to have such a caaaalllmmmm baby. I ain’t kiddin folks! No, he wasn’t born with dreadlocks and singing Bob Marley but people always comment how chill and laid back he is. I’ve even been offered to trade kids. Ha ha ha! No. Jump to the present – he still loves this stuff. He’s our spirulina boy . Most of the soft foods we feed him are topped with spirulina. I didn’t realize HOW much he loves it though until recentl
