About Me
Dec 2010 one of my favorite pics even though it's grainy |
Hi, and welcome to HiHoRosie’s Place! My name is Heidi and this is my personal blog of health, food, good finds, gardening, and whatever else I feel like rambling on about (see disclosure at bottom).
This blog initially began (Feb 2008) when my husband, Sam, and I started venturing into living (raw) foods in mid-2007. Since then, I’ve found myself gardening (however, more in a supportive role since our son was born), discovering new foods (to me), giving old food dislikes a second chance, doing product reviews and giveaways, and sometimes getting really fancy in the kitchen.
I’m a huge supporter of a plant-based lifestyle but also believe one should eat/live how it best fits their own needs, family, or health issues.
I invite comments, conversations and expressing of opinions and/or experiences – in fact, I love it all! Feel free to comment any time or email me.
I love eating raw foods and look for inspiration and guidance from many raw food blogs. I also enjoy cooked food and for me, that’s just fine. It usually depends on seasons, moods or situations. Just saying I’m not a raw food purist by any means and just try to stay balanced, healthy and happy.
What we really strive for in our home is eating wholesome fresh unprocessed foods and eating as much organic as possible. I believe it’s important for people to know where their food comes from. I do not support GMOs and factory farming. Only authentic food and local is best!
Since switching to a healthier lifestyle, I have found that I have more energy so less (or no) need for caffeine, I get cravings for healthier foods (who da thunk?!), I’ve lost weight, eliminated my plantar fasciitis, and had a healthy baby boy. Now, I’m not perfect. I’m human and still give in to things I shouldn’t. I still have some work to do but the important thing is I keep trying and don’t give up when things don’t go as planned. Just find another way that works for me.
I enjoy blogging and never thought of myself as a writer but turns out, I love having another way to express myself. I wish I could blog everyday or more often than I do but as of now, I don't have a set blog schedule; I just blog when I can.
I also enjoy being a blog reader. There are so many great blogs out there whose authors are just as great. I’ve come in contact with many whom I can call friends (even met some in person).
My family consists of my husband, Sam, aka Yardsnacker of yardsnacker.com and our son, Caleb (born in May 2009), nicknamed Yardsnacker II or for short, YS2. He's sometimes referred to as Sprout, too.
Thanks for reading. Hope you like what you find here. Contact me if you have questions or topics you’d like to discuss.
P.S. Disclosure stuff!
I’m not a doctor. I’m not a health expert of any kind. I won’t even pretend to be either of those but I do post about things I’ve learned along the way that might be helpful to others. What might work for me might not work for you and vice versa. Please do your own research and seek the professional advice of your health practitioner.
