Sorry to be MIA so much these days...I thought being on vacation I'd be caught up with all my blogging but with the holidays (and all things associated with them), wacky weather, and my computer out of commission (using hubby's right now) it's been a bit challenging.

Thank you all for your patience with me these last couple months or so. I feel like a total flake but I hope to be back in action and in routine again soon. I know I've said that before but I will be by. Promise.

I hope you all are enjoying the season, whatever you celebrate and that 2009 is healthy and prosperous for you!

Poll is closed, results are in!

>> Wednesday, December 17, 2008

Results being both unofficial and official. I went for my sonogram yesterday, which was very exciting!

So the unofficial results are as predicted by readers:
25% voted a boy; 25% voted twins and 50% voted a girl.

Officially, I will tell you this first off I am NOT having TWINS! Big phew! Although, that would've been fun. Twins don't run in either of our families so I didn't think along those lines much - well, maybe a little. :)

Now, boy or girl? Well, a whole lotta you thought girl (including me) not just here on my blog but at work, in my family, etc. Anytime someone I knew said "boy" I thought really? You sure? Well, the 25% of you who said boy and the rare person I spoke with who said boy are...

I'm having a BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are so happy and excited and certainly looking forward to his debut next spring. What will he look like? What will we name him? Anyway, now call me biased but I believe he has the most perfect profile ever. Take my word for it k? ;)

I'm not ready to share his pics at this point, at least publicly, but can I just tell you how amazing ultrasounds are? All the detail they can capture from so many angles and just to see him moving around inside was so amazing and beautiful. His hands, his feet, his heart, everything - it put me on cloud 9 all day. Still am.

We are so happy to be the proud parents of a baby boy. No doubt he'll be much loved. Maybe just for fun I'll have to dress him as a girl just once....ha ha! Just kidding!

If I had three thumbs...

>> Saturday, December 6, 2008

...I'd give three thumbs up to each of these products below.

Have any of you tried Laughing Giraffe's Vanilla Almond Snakaroons? We found our first package at Whole Foods but our raw vegan store also carries them. Oh boy these are snarfalicious! Yeah, sure you can probably make these yourself for a fraction of the price but I'm not sure they'd be as tasty besides it's fun to buy something a little more decadent. We pick these up from time to time as a special treat for ourselves. I just wish these stores would stock more of them because they go fast! They taste kind of "buttery" not sure that's the best description but these macaroons have a richness to them that's different and better from standard macs. The first time I tried these I nearly fainted. Okay, not really but they're that good.

Now, on to raw chocolate. I've tried different brands - some tasty ones and not-so tasty ones. Today, we were at the Raw Vegan Source (the raw vegan store we frequent here) when they literally received their 1st package of Gnosis Chocolate by Chocolate Girl, aka Vanessa
(many of you may know her on GITMR). Oh I couldn't wait to try these since I've heard so much about them on GITMR and elsewhere. So I can say we were the first of their customers to ever purchase Gnosis Chocolate from their store. My first taste was of the Cool Peppermint. I love mint with my chocolate so this was a must-try and believe me, you will not be disappointed if you like dark chocolate and mint. Not too minty and not too sweet and the chocolate itself was creamy and smooth. Not bitter at all! That is the #1 plus for me when it comes to dark chocolate. We also picked up the Simplicity bar which is your "basic" dark chocolate bar - it's not basic in flavor. Again, just creamy and smooth without any fancy flavors added. If you get a chance to try these DO!

One Two Buckle My Shoe

>> Tuesday, December 2, 2008

One: I updated the poll to the right by changing the end date. Two weeks left to vote boy, girl or twins! My ultrasound is scheduled for the 16th so after that day we'll make an announcement. Tee hee! Aren't you excited? I AM!

Two: Interesting article if you care to read called "Diet's Impact on Fertility." Take what you want from it but overall I agree that diet has a HUGE impact on fertility.

Yay for baby! Or babies. :)

Another Baby Update

>> Monday, December 1, 2008

Sorry for the absence dear friends and thank you for your concern as well. I'm truly fine. I don't have much of an excuse for not posting or visiting many of your blogs other than taking it easy. I had full intentions of catching up on all my blog reading over the Thanksgiving weekend but obviously that didn't happen. I've been working a little more these days trying to get all of my work done so I can take lots o'vacation through the holidays but it's challenging at times. My downtime consists of just chillin and not much action. I know I've said I'll be by your blogs and I mean it; I'm just slow these days.

On to the update:

My belly is G-R-O-W-I-N-G! It's all good though. I've only gain like 7-8 pounds over these four+ months but I feel at times like I've gained 20! Depending on what I wear can you tell I'm pregnant - just beginning to show really. I did have to invest in a belly band and some maternity clothes because regular pants were becoming uncomfortable. People who know I'm pregnant can see the changes, strangers or acquaintances might just think I'm a little chubby. ha ha!

This morning I noticed something with my hands: veins. They were HUGE! You know with the increased blood volume coursing through my veins no wonder they were bulging. It was was fascinating and gross at the same time. Now they seem pretty normal. Phew!

At my last ob appointment, the assistant was in charge of finding baby's heartbeat. Kudos to her for finding it (snap!) just like that. She noted while listening to the loud beats that we have "a strong baby." I love that! What I love more though is hearing the heartbeat. Since I can't see or feel a baby just yet hearing those heartbeats mean the world to me.

Speaking of feeling baby, I should be feeling those karate kicks soon! Also, we hope to learn the gender of little bebe sometime this month. I'll adjust the poll I've got going when the appt is set. You'll all be the 2nd to know...er, 3rd or whatever. :)

So in the end, me and baby are strong and well. Yay! With special thanks to my hubby I think we're doing everything right so far. I can't complain much - I mean no morning sickness, no major discomforts, etc. Sure, I get tired, sometimes cranky, sometimes an occasional backache - oh and congestion! I got a stuffy nose but I guess that comes with the territory. What's funny with that is when hubby and I went to the garden a couple weeks ago to put it to sleep for the winter (a future yet belated post), I started getting the sniffles - I mean as soon as we got there, sniff sniff. I thought it was some sort of allergy to the garden (i.e. mold). By the next day it seemed I had some sort of horrible head cold but all in my nose. I blew my nose so much the skin got chapped. Beautiful. Turns out I had swollen mucous membranes. Mmm... Anyway, I still get stuffy on occasion but it's not severe like the first time so that's good. But really, aside from that this has been a really good pregnancy and I'm very appreciative. To the mothers who've had hellacious pregnancies I applaud you for perserving and toughing it out - just don't hate me.
