Candida & a Giveaway (CLOSED)

Do you have major food cravings, especially for sweets, breads or alcohol?
Do you suffer from headaches, depression, or have many allergies?
How about PMS, gas/bloating, vaginal infections, irritability?

Yes? Read on…

Candida albicans is a fungus that is found on the skin and mucous membranes of everybody. Nothing wrong with this when in balance but when its growth increases drastically it can be devastating. The imbalance of excessive candida is called candidaisis.

Here’s the tricky part: how do you know if you suffer from candida? This is one of those common conditions that’s difficult to diagnose. Again, this is because it’s present in everybody and creates a variety of symptoms. If you find yourself being adversely affected at times, you’ll want to evaluate your diet and your health. If you find yourself addicted to carbs/sugars (even fermented foods) or consume antibiotics (i.e. medications, birth control pills, foods containing antibiotics), those things feed the candida. Unfortunately, as this growth gets more and more out of control you may find yourself not feeling well physically, mentally and/or emotionally. Your immune system is weakened and you’re exhausted and crabby. Of course, this just makes matters worse because it’s either misdiagnosed or we, being unaware, keep feeding the wrong bacteria.

There are some great alternatives that you can eat such as veggies (fresh steamed and sea vegetables), almonds and unprocessed oils. If you still eat animal products, try sea foods, eggs or poultry without added antibiotics and hormones. Once you have been off sugar and carbs for a few days, you’ll begin to feel in control again, as though a fog has been lifted from your brain. After a week or so, you may slowly add fresh fruits. Fruits MUST be eaten alone and on an empty stomach. You can also add natural whole grains like brown rice, millet, amaranth, rice cakes, flat breads (made without yeast) to your diet. Continue to avoid yeast containing foods for awhile (like breads, wine and beer) to maintain control of the fungus growth. Make salad dressing with lemon juice instead of vinegar. Bake, poach, boil and steam your food instead of frying (or eat more raw *wink*). There are a lot of culinary possibilities.

For a lot of us, we have changed our lifestyles in dramatic ways. Switching to a healthier diet, especially one consisting of living foods is a terrific start. A new diet will definitely help you feel better because you’re not feeding the candida but it's not actually cleaning out the problem. In order to clear out the excess growth and rebuild healthy flora pairing it with a specialized cleanse is needed.

Enter Kroeger Herb Products and their Candida Kit. This is a program that was designed by founder and master herbalist, Hanna Kroeger, who started working on candida back in the early 70’s before anyone else acknowledged the issue. She made a distinction between candida and other fungal issues and used a slightly different approach for each. The candida kit addresses the overgrowth by first cleansing the candida for four weeks to create an environment suitable to rebuilding friendly bacteria, which keeps candida under control.
Kroeger Herbs was generous to send me a kit to give away to ONE LUCKY WINNER! I have a volunteer to do the program as well – after they’ve had a chance to complete it I hope to do a review, but that will be down the road.

The kit contains:

-Candida Formula, two bottles, 100 caps ea
-Candida Formula #2, two bottles, 100 caps ea
-Taurin Dophilus, one bottle, 100 tablets

The products in this kit work on several key issues for cleansing:

-Strong bitter elements and tannins: increase digestive secretions and make the digestive tract inhospitable to candida
-Neutralizes acidity: neutralizing the acidity helps reduce the candida population and lets the friendly bacteria repopulate
-Controls mucus accumulations: candida can multiply in mucus
-Strengthens digestion and elimination: often compromised by candida
-Binds and cleanses toxins from the blood, lymph and kidneys: candida gives off toxins that can settle in different parts of the body
-Tones the liver: the liver helps eliminate toxins from candida
