Guest Post: Top Five Eco New Year’s Resolutions for 2012

Image
Good morning! I have another great guest post today brought to you by EthicalCommunity.com. Please note: there are suggestions for things that are non-vegan/vegetarian. Obviously, you don't have to do anything you don't want no matter what side of the fence you're on. Please use them as inspirations to do what is best for you. Oh, and one other thing. Where it references the UK in spots, you could replace with the US, although, our stats might be more staggering. **** The New Year is both a time for reflecting on events across 2011 whilst looking forward to the exciting things that 2012 might bring. But what makes up a good New Year’s Resolution? Before you follow the crowds and rush out to join a gym, this year you might want to consider looking at how the things you choose to eat can impact our planet. Small changes can make a huge impact across the year and certainly are easier to stick with than promising yourself to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger by the end o...

Guest Post: Could Switching to a Gluten-Free Diet Benefit Your Family?

Hello friends! I have a guest post for you today from Amanda on the benefits for eating gluten-free. I'm not gluten-free but I do try to reduce my intake or appreciate when I find gluten-free products. I found this topic to be quite helpful and I hope you do too. Thank you, Amanda! **** Diet is a four-letter word in my family. We don’t do it. We don’t even think it. We eat what grows in our region’s farmland and occasionally nibble (okay, devour) what comes out of their pastures. We eat what we feel is best for our bodies, our sanity, and our planet, and we forgive ourselves and try harder next time when we slip up. Let me make this clear: this is not me telling anyone to lose weight. The gluten-free diet will, admittedly, help with that. It can help with a lot of other, probably more important things too, like digestive health, skin clarity, and overall I-feel-awesome-ness. But that’s for each family to decide for themselves. What is gluten? Gluten is a protein co...

Wayfair Winner

Image
Thank you all who entered, supported my Wayfair giveaway ! I'd say it was a success! The winner of the giveaway, any item up to $65, is...           #203 bitt "Like" Hihorosie on Facebook Congrats Bitt! Have fun shopping! And I'd like to point out like I did in my last post , that again, the winning entry was a "like" for my facebook page . ha ha! I swear it's not rigged! It's all been random, but I'm telling ya, it must be good luck. I did have to update one of my NuStevia winners so it turns out that it was 50/50 but if you count all winners from these two giveaways, which is five, then 3 out of 5 were for liking my page. Still good odds, I think. :) Anyways... I'm done with giveaways for the year, however, there will be more coming up next year and I'm thinking of something a little unique for one...I'll let you in on it once I have it all figured out. More posts coming up soon so for now, enjoy the weekend!

Product Review: Farmaesthetics

Image
I’m usually very basic when it comes my daily face cleansing routine. I’m smart enough to use a gentle organic oil to remove eye makeup but it’s not uncommon for me to use regular soap to wash my face (tsk, tsk). And I don’t know about you, but most soaps are extremely drying. I wear makeup during the week so I need something that’s effective and non-drying and well, regular soap doesn’t work, at least, not in all the right ways. I recently had the chance to try some wonderful products from Farmaesthetics , specializing in natural herbal skincare. Founded by Brenda Brock and based in Newport, Rhode Island, all of their products are "100% natural, utilizing certified organic herbs, flowers, oils & grains from American family farms" [ source ]. Also, no animal testing. These products are found and used at many resorts and spas around the world, including the Four Seasons Resorts and Spas. Impressive! I wish I can remember where or from whom I first learned of Farmaes...
